How are reactors classified?

Dry-type transformers possess numerous notable characteristics that confer unique advantages and applicability in specific scenarios.

Content

Insulation and Cooling Properties:

Dry-type transformers use air as the insulating medium. Compared to oil-immersed transformers, the insulation strength and cooling performance of air are relatively inferior. To compensate for these deficiencies, dry-type transformer designs typically require the use of more insulation materials. Consequently, the material consumption of dry-type transformers is relatively high, making them ideal for environments with high fire safety requirements, such as subways, public buildings, workshops, and hydropower stations.

Impulse Voltage Withstand Capability:

Despite using air as the insulating medium, dry-type transformers must withstand certain impulse voltage tests. This ensures that in actual usage, the transformers can maintain their insulation performance and structural stability when subjected to high voltage surges.

Winding Insulation Grades:

The winding insulation materials of dry-type transformers can be selected from various insulation grades, such as Class A, Class E, Class B, Class F, and Class H. Commonly used insulation grades are Class F and Class H, which can maintain stable insulation performance at higher temperatures, thereby extending the transformer’s service life and enhancing operational reliability.

8·

Structural Design:

Dry-type transformers are typically enclosed in a sealed casing, which not only helps protect the transformer from external environmental factors but also improves the safety and reliability of the equipment. The design of the casing must consider adequate ventilation and cooling conditions to ensure effective heat dissipation during operation and prevent overheating.

Fire Resistance and Environmental Friendliness:

Since dry-type transformers do not use oil as a cooling and insulating medium, they exhibit excellent fire resistance and do not pose risks of oil leakage or fire outbreaks. They also have certain environmental protection advantages by reducing dependence on petroleum products and minimizing potential environmental pollution risks.

In summary

In summary, dry-type transformers, with their unique insulation and structural design, are suitable for applications that require high fire safety and environmental friendliness. Although their material consumption and costs are higher, their safety and reliability make them the preferred choice in specific environments.
