Cold-rolled silicon steel sheets are a special type of silicon alloy steel produced through a cold rolling process, primarily used for making cores of motors, transformers, and generators. They exhibit excellent magnetic and electrical properties, making them crucial materials in power equipment.

The chemical composition of cold-rolled silicon steel sheets generally includes 3%5%silicon, 0.06%carbon, 0.15%manganese, 0.03%phosphorus, 0.25%sulfur, and 5.1%8.5%aluminum, with the remaining being iron.

 

Additionally, there are some impurity elements, mostly non-magnetic or weakly magnetic substances, which can cause lattice distortions, dislocations, vacancies, and internal stress, thereby affecting magnetization.

 

Properties

Magnetic Properties: Cold-rolled silicon steel sheets exhibit high magnetic permeability and low iron loss. They can produce high magnetic induction at relatively low magnetic field strengths. The addition of silicon and the optimization of the cold rolling process significantly reduce iron loss.

 

Electrical Properties: Cold-rolled silicon steel sheets have high resistivity and good insulation properties. The addition of silicon significantly increases the steel's resistivity, reducing eddy current loss. Typically, cold-rolled silicon steel sheets also have an insulating coating on their surface, further decreasing eddy current loss and preventing inter-laminar short circuits.

 

Mechanical Properties: The cold rolling process imparts high mechanical strength to the sheets, along with good plasticity and toughness, allowing them to be processed and stamped into various shapes.
