What’s the Operation Steps for Transformer Start-Up?
1. For transformers using forced oil circulation, the cooling system should be activated before commissioning. In the case of forced oil circulation water-cooled transformers, the oil system must be activated first, followed by the water system. After discontinuing the water cooling system in winter, the water should be completely drained.
2. If circuit breakers are present, they must be used for commissioning. In the absence of circuit breakers, isolating switches within the specified capacity range can be used for commissioning.
3. The energization of the transformer should be carried out from the power supply side equipped with protective devices.
4. In systems with a neutral point directly grounded at 110kV and above, the neutral point must be grounded before commissioning the transformer.
5. After meeting the above conditions, the start-up operation can proceed. Firstly, close the protective pressure plate and the power switch, then close the first and second isolation switches, and engage the first circuit breaker. After verifying the normal operation of the transformer, close the second circuit breaker.
6. After closing the circuit, carefully observe the operating condition of the transformer and check if all instrument indicators are normal. Ensure that all switch position indicators and lights respond properly.
7. Timely collect gas from the gas relay. Because within the first 24 hours of the transformer's initial operation, the gas relay's action is normal. Conduct tests on the collected gas to determine its flammability. The contacts of the baffle-type gas relay, used for circuit breaker opening, should not act without a fault-induced shock current.
8. For transformers in parallel, pay attention to the load distribution of each transformer after parallel operation. If the load distribution imbalance between two transformers exceeds 20%, deloading operation should be considered.
