The drying process of a transformer is carried out to remove moisture and humidity from the insulation materials to ensure the reliability and performance of the transformer. Here is the general procedure for drying a transformer:

Preparation:

Place the transformer in a drying station or equipment and secure it on suitable support structures for processing.

Inspection:

Conduct external and internal inspections before drying to ensure that the transformer does not have any visible damage or issues.

Drying Equipment:

Use specialized drying equipment, typically air-flow or vacuum-type devices, to remove moisture and humidity from the insulation materials. These devices provide precise temperature and humidity control.

Drying Process:

The transformer is placed within the drying equipment and gradually heated. Temperature and humidity are typically controlled within specific time and temperature ranges to ensure safe and effective drying.

Monitoring:

During the drying process, monitoring equipment is used to track temperature and humidity to ensure they remain within acceptable ranges.

Cooling:

After the drying process is complete, the transformer is gradually cooled to reach ambient temperature.

Inspection:

Upon completion of drying, inspections are carried out to ensure that the insulation materials have not been damaged or developed any issues.

Re-sealing:

Once drying and inspection procedures are completed, the transformer is re-sealed to maintain its insulation performance.

The duration and temperature of the drying process depend on the size, type, and insulation materials of the transformer. The purpose of this process is to ensure that the insulation materials are not affected by moisture and humidity, thereby enhancing the reliability and lifespan of the transformer. Throughout the entire drying procedure, strict adherence to safety and manufacturing standards is essential to prevent accidents and maintain the integrity of the transformer.
