How does environmental pollution affect the operation of transformers?

Pollution can impact the surface discharge strength and surface paint of bushings, and it's possible to choose bushings with a certain leakage ratio based on different pollution levels. According to national standards, there are several leakage ratios available for selection:

Level 0: 14.8mm/kV

Level I: 16mm/kV, equivalent to a composite salt density of 0.05mg/cm²

Level B: 20mm/kV, equivalent to a composite salt density of 0.1mg/cm²

Level III: 25mm/kV, equivalent to a composite salt density of 0.2mg/cm²

Level IV: 31mm/kV, equivalent to a composite salt density of 0.4mg/cm²

Leakage ratio refers to the ratio of the minimum nominal surface creepage distance of the bushing to the highest operating voltage U. As the creepage distance increases, the breakdown distance should also increase to ensure that the creep/break ratio does not exceed 3.5.

LuShan, est. 1975, is a Chinese professional manufacturer specializing in power transformers and reactors for 49 years.
