What are the structural characteristics of a cylindrical winding?

Cylindrical windings can be classified intosingle-layer,double-layer, andmulti-layer configurations. Single-layer windings are simple in structure and have good processability, but they have relatively poor end support stability. Double-layer windings are formed by connecting1 to 6 flat conductors to a winding mold and winding them, which can enhance the electrical performance and mechanical strength of the winding to a certain extent. Multi-layer cylindrical windings use round or flat conductors for winding on an insulating cylinder, providing a larger winding volume and higher current-carrying capacity.

Winding Structures:

Single-Layer Winding: Suitable for lower voltage applications, featuring a simpler structure and better processability. The end support of such windings usually relies on external support structures, resulting inrelatively poor stability.

Double-Layer Winding:By winding two layers of conductors on a winding mold, this configuration effectively improvesthe insulation class and electrical performance of the winding. The design of double-layer windings must ensuregood insulation between layers to prevent short circuits or leakage issues due to poor inter-layer insulation.

Multi-Layer Winding: Suitable for applications requiringhigh current and high voltage. Multi-layer windings offer larger winding volumes and higher current densities. The manufacturing process for multi-layer windings is more complex, requiring precise control of the winding process to ensure overall performance and stability.

High-Voltage Winding Design:

For high-voltage windings of35kV and above, a static shield is typically installed withinthe inner layers of the winding to ensure even voltage distribution. The static shield, connected to the winding terminal, effectively suppresses the concentration of electric fields and reduces local electric field intensity caused by uneven voltage distribution, thereby enhancing the insulation performance and reliability of the winding.

Insulation Materials:

Inter-layer insulation materials are generally made from cable paper oroil ducts to ensure the electrical and mechanical strength of the winding insulation. Cable paper is a commonly used insulation material with excellent high-temperature resistance and electrical insulation properties. Oil ducts further enhance insulation effects and provide effective cooling. Additionally, the insulation at both ends of the winding must be filled properly to ensure the integrity of the insulation system and prevent partial discharge phenomena due to uneven edges.

In summary

In summary, the structural characteristics of cylindrical windings include their layered design, insulation configuration, and special requirements for high-voltage windings. These characteristics determine their suitability and performance in various applications.
