This refers to the energy lost in the transformer when there is no load on the secondary winding.

A test performed on a transformer to determine its copper losses and equivalent resistance.

(16) Open-circuit test:

A test performed on a transformer to determine its core losses and equivalent reactance. Auto-transformer: A transformer that uses a single winding with multiple taps to provide a variable voltage output.

(17) Buck-boost transformer:

A type of transformer that provides either a step-up or step-down voltage output, depending on the wiring configuration.

Knowing these technical terms is essential for understanding the functioning and performance of transformers, as well as for diagnosing and troubleshooting problems that may arise.
